I've been meaning to post
I've been meaning to post this for a while, but someone over at Glitter started a thread about bad names.
There is a former local MP (kinda like an alderman) here who's name is Richard Face.
Yes, his name is 'Dick Face'.
Go figure.
Here is an article about Mr. Face
oh, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
We are going to Kris's tonight, so if they have their webcam up you might just catch a glimps of us in our groovie costumes!!!

OK Sydney,Spellbound is opening at the Dendy on November 6. I got the chance to see this one at the Sydney Film Festival earlier in the year and it is the best. Funny, sweet, a little scary, and oh so telling about the obsession with being the best. Go see it, lord knows it wont be playing for long. YOu can thank me later (cash gifts are acceptable)

my 2 cents
So I got pissed off enough to actually write a letter.
This whole Demon Dogs thing has gotten under my skin so I sent this email to Mayor Daly:
Dear Mayor Daley,
My husband and I lived in Chicago for many years. My husband graduated from Columbia College and I worked for Marshall Field's. We followed the Cubs season this year with much pride.
Six years ago we moved to Sydney, Australia and we come home to Chicago quite regularly. There are a few things that give us that 'yeah, we're home' feel. Riding the El, shopping on State, visiting the Field Museum, and yes, a good ol' Demon Dog.
From every former Chicagoan everywhere please reconsider tearing this Chicago landmark down. It takes years to create a tradition, but only seconds to destroy it.
Thank you
Rob and Amy Barker
(ok, my hubby is the only one who eats Hot Dogs cuz I don't eat erd meat, but I'm up for fries and a Coke!)

I can't believe that Paulini
I can't believe that Paulini got voted off Australian Idol.
that is so wrong.
And I can't believe that Guy was on the bottom two.
that was double wrong.
Shannon and Cosima were the weakest singers and they got the most votes. go figure.
good lord I might actually have to vote after the next show...I am so sucked in...

Much sadness.
I just found out from my brother's blog that Demon Dogs in Chicago is closing the end of the month. WTF? How can they close it? Now, granted I haven't eaten there for like 5 years and all, but somethings in this world you just expect to be there forever and ever. ya know?
boo-hoo

whew, busy weekend. Finished our
whew, busy weekend.
Finished our Halloween costumes. More on that later, I don't want to give too much away. Not that our costumes will be all that surprising....especially if you were at our wedding and saw our cake (hint hint, but keep it to yourself)
ANYWAY. I had lots of homework to do too and some stuff to post on eBay. Rob told me the other day the we have made $800 in the last 6 months on our eBaying. Pretty good for only working a couple of hours a week. And the homework mostly done. I really should sit down and do some reading. That might happen on the train to class tomorrow...I'm bad, I know.
I really need to start Christmas shopping. really really. I know what I'm getting most people, but I just need to get off my ass and get it all together. really really.
man, what's for dinner.

SMILE!
Two cute things from the gals at Glitter.
Who said library staff had to be stuffy?
I like the 'lush' one the best. Go figure.
And yet again from Kris (truly the web-goddess!)
This site is for every kid who ever wanted a store bought Halloween costume instead of the lame-ass 'hobo' costume your mom made you.....

A few years ago I
A few years ago I was fortunate enough to see The Boy From Oz here in Sydney. (really fun show!) and now The Boy has opened in New York with Hugh Jackman. (instead of the awesome Todd McKinney, but don't get me started about that) It is getting some really good reviews. SO if you are going to be in New York and you want to have a fun night out get yourself some tickets. whoo-hoo
And now for something completely different. Man I love the girls at Glitter. They find the funniest shit.

Consessions of a Delusional Ex-Chicagoan
I have a theory about the Cubs not getting into the World Series.
I think that they know that most of their hard core fans are over the age of 65, right? And that if they actually won that they would cause hundreds, nay thousands, of heart attacks across the Midwest. They don't want the familes of their fans to have to experience this so they throw the final games. Look, they care enough for YOUR grandpa to lose and I for one think they deserve a bit of recognition.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

and this just in from Kris:
The Dewey Decimal System classification number for numerology is 133.335. If you reverse that and add them together...133.335 + 533.331 = 666.666!
Spooky, eh? But then again this from a guy who changed his name to its phonetical spelling, preferring to go by 'Melvil Dui' rather than 'Melville Dewey'. Ya think he was a little obsessed with being concise?

I really should be working
I really should be working right now but I have about 10 minutes before my stuff finishes printing.
It is raining here at the moment. Kinda funny really because today water restrictions came into effect in Sydney. And they are going to have 'water police' running around giving people on the spot fines for watering the lawn, spraing down the drive way, etc. Sounds like the makings for a fun new cop show....
oops, printer stopped printing, gotta go.
