I'm going to order some of the Glitter buttons from plainmabel for us here in Oz.
Who wants one? I figure 5 should cover all of us, but just let me know if you want in on it.

another friday five 1. Do
1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
oh, well, it depends. Normal clothes shopping, no. Thrift shopping, craft shopping, book shopping, looking at fun furniture and homewares, oh yeah! Why? Maybe cuz I work in retail I kinda feel like I'm at work when I go clothes shopping.
2. What was the last thing you purchased?
Some silver accessories at a groovy new shop in Brookvale. I think it cam eup to about $20.
3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
I like to look and do my research online then go to actual stores and see it in the flesh. Why? Maybe I just like to see it in person
4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
Not that I remember.
5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?
This hair colour stuff. (Couleur Experte by Loreal) I ended up taking it back telling them that I heard bad thing about it from my friends. That it turned one girl's hair orange. They were cool about it. That just happened today.
Other than that I have some major shoe purchase regrets. A very expensive habit....

OK, I've decided.
F*ck it, I'm wearing jeans. (to the party)
I feel it is my duty as an American to wear jeans (cuz us Yanks wear them everywhere) and if they don't like it they can piss off.
So there!
oh, and yeah, I'm gonna wear the skull charm bracelet too tee-hee.
One more thing, everyone in Australia, be sure to watch next week's Queer Eye. It is the infamous 'Lisa' Episode. (insert dark and spooky music here)

whew.
What a crazy weekend. By now we all know that the Wallabies lost. But they put in a truly valiant effort. We went up to the pub to watch the game and ended up sitting with these two guys who got stood up by their other friends. (Hey, they had empty seats in a packed bar, why not?) And got a little sauced up. Needless to say we spent all of Saturday nursing our throbbing heads. Yikes.
So I've spent the last two days making up for lost time. I've all but finished my Holiday Shopping (it should be in the mail later today) and just about finished off the work for this semester.
Wow, I can't believe that I'm almost done with this semester.
And then Thursday is Turkey Day. Funny, when you are far from home things that were so minor become very important. I think Rob and I will do our typical Turkey/Camembert pizza. mmm.
oh, and get this. My company Christmas Party is this weekend.(Sunday) At this foo-foo cocktail lounge called The Loft. And the dress code is 'super sleek and stylish' of which I am neither. What the f*ck am I gonna wear? Do they make dress Chucks? hurmph.

1. List five things you'd like to accomplish by the end of the year.
Get through this semester (with honours maybe), Figure out if I'm going to go to Big Day Out this year, See Japanese Story, Watch the Wallabies with the Rugby World Cup!!!, Get Australian citizenship, Impress the hell out of everyone at my new gig.
2. List five people you've lost contact with that you'd like to hear from again.
Scott, Matt, Michelle, Michael, and Scott (the same one)
3. List five things you'd like to learn how to do.
Sing (without scaring people), how to darn socks, HTML,how to do the kitchner stitch (sp?) properly (I'm working on that one), drive a manual (aka stick shift).
4. List five things you'd do if you won the lottery (no limit).
change my shorts, change my phone number, hire a dancing monkey, hire 2 accountants (aka financial consulants), cry.
5. List five things you do that help you relax.
Knit, drink, read, surf the net, watch TV.

I finally got Knitting Without Tears today. (bloody two months after I ordered it!!) I can't wait to dive into it.
And BTW, I've got a new gig. Well, sort of. I've taken a different position with my company. This one should be a LOT more flexible with school and involve so much less travel. PLUS I'm getting a bit more $$$. OK, there is a bit more stress but along with that comes more support and creativity. Should be kinda cool. Oh, and I get to wear jeans, Chucks, and my pig-tails very day! whoo-hoo!
I'm still lovin' that Guy won last night. hmmm, I hope his album is good. I don't know that I'll buy it, but I hope for him that it is good.

If you love the elasticity of the english language like I do then park yourself for the next hour or so and go to Word Spy. Some of my favs are 'Elvis year, 'drunk dial', and 'mallternative'.
And one that describes all the new homes going up all over Sydney...

Look out Bushie-Boy, one of the richest man in the world is out to get ya!
The SMH reports that Georoge Soros has pledges $5 Million US to help oust George Dubbya Bush.
Mr Soros says a "supremacist ideology" guides the White House. He hears echoes in its rhetoric of his childhood in occupied Hungary: "When I hear Bush say, 'You're either with us or against us,' it reminds me of the Germans." It conjured up memories of the Nazi slogan, "Der Feind hoert mit" (The enemy is listening): "My experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule have sensitised me," he said.
"Bush feels that on September 11, he was anointed by God," Mr Soros said. "Rather than defeating terrorism, he's leading the US and the world toward a vicious circle of escalating violence."
Well put. Soros sounds like one cool dude.

Helen, I really like the idea of getting outside and knitting.
How does a knitting picnic in the Botanical Gardens sound to you? Then maybe look at some other crafty days.
Thoughts?
