I really need to be
I really need to be lookin' for a library gig.
Know what I'm up this early? (note the time stamp on this entry) I'm stressed because my boss is all freaking out because I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning and I will miss a couple of hours in the morning. So today I'm going in at this ungodly hour to try to make up the time. Next time she bitches about it I'm going to bring up the fact that I STILL have not recieved my bonus from friggin Christmas. WTF?
Anyway I should go get ready for work

three things
1. The NRMA released a report
that in Australia only 10% of SUVs ever get off pavement and go bush. No big surprise.
2. Did you know that Shel Silverstein wrote songs for Johnny Cash?
3. This one for Kris, you play nice with your iPod, mk? Link from my bro. But we wanna know if it still works

One more post.
After a LONG absence, Skinny Puppy has a new album coming out. 'The Greater Wrong of The Right' (great title, eh?) has a May 25 release date (just in time for my b-day) and is getting great reviews.
On a side note, Skinny Puppy was one of our fav bands in High School/Uni. They are so awesome live. Lets hope they come down under to play with their old friends Severed Heads (who live in Sydney!).
hands up who likes late 80's electro-goth.....

Out and About
The Bloggies are up, and while I was overlooked this year (I feel like Bill Murray at the Oscars) there are a few notable winners.
Tracey from Shutterbug got best Photoblog. Rock on Tracey!
Book Slut got a nod for Best Topical Blog. And Claire Robertson got Best Aussie Blog for her all knitting, all dancing, cute-as-a-button alter ego Loobylu.
Congrat Everyone!
Oh, and we are going to be out in the Blue Mountains till sunday so no wild partied, m-k?

Separated at Birth?
But I think that former Gucci head Tom Ford and Queer Eye's Kyan (aka the grooming guy) look a lot alike.
Call me crazy.

Oh Helen, this one's for YOU
I had a brush with fame today.
Maggie Smith came into the store. She tried on some pants but they didn't fit her. (bummer) But it was really cool. Some of the other customers recognised her too and we had a good chat about Harry Potter after she left. I really should have gotten an autograph or something but I didn't want to bother her.

This classic Bush-ism just in
This classic Bush-ism just in from Rubbernun.
After reading it I realized that I didn't know what 'pluralism' meant. So I looked it up. As it turns out not only did Bush stick his foot in it by praising a guy on National Women's Week, but by also buy supporting someone who stands for everything he hates. (namely that 'there are many independent sources of value and, in political life, acceptance of a multiplicity of groups with competing interests') Does that qualify as ironic?

Sock N Rock
HERE is the most extensive list of free sock patterns I've seen. And look at how organized it is. Love it!
And I love Tankboy's spin on turning 30 (the March 11th Entry). But I don't necessarily agree with the whole thing about not listening to the 'modern rock' stations. But then again, what the hell are the 'modern rock' stations in Sydney? If that means not listening to The White Stripes and Placebo then forget it!

Pauline Hanson's Bad Blood
I"m with Kris (and most of Australia) on this one. Yeah, you and thousands of other innocent homosexuals, English people, and others with certain diseases can't give blood. But at least in your case Ms Hanson its only a 12 month ban. What if you were gay?
She will make a news story out of anything.

Kris and the Snook got
Kris and the Snook got a kitty! how cute is she? and a good name too. Really, watch the 'couch-cam' for a while (refresh once in a while) to see the little terror streak across the screen. too funny.
I've been watching The Flaming Lips DVD that came out last Christmas (finally got it) and the 'Are You a Hypnotist' video reminds me of the old Nitzer Ebb video for Hearts and Minds. I know, I know, I just dated myself. Oh well.
Rob is doing the dishes. Guess I should go help him.

BTW hey Kris here's my little fur boy for ya:

well the kitty is feeling
well the kitty is feeling better. He is begging for food and keeping water down. (whew!)
Rob and I did a little shopping today. While he went to a model shop (aka his pusher) I went to a thrift shore I hadn't been to before and totally SCORED! I got a great vintage coat (very mod squad!), a 70's sweater/skirt set, and this awesome lace top. But the coolest thing is a PRINT GOCCO machine for THREE DOLLARS. whoo-hoo!!! I'm going to have to see if I can get the stuff to print onto fabric.
and Kris has inspired me to try knitting socks on circular needles. I've only been doing a little practice tube. but I plan of getting stuck into a sock tonight. Look out!
I was planning on chopping all mt hair today but my hairdresser called in sick. oh well. next weekend, maybe.
My Mom sent me some of these crazy Chocolate Swoops. They are nuts! (but not in a bad way) They are kinda like tiny chocolate Pringles. I think I like 'em.
I really really really need to get started my homework tomorrow. really.

update: I didn't have two of the same sized circular needles to be able to do the sock trick. I am so mad at myself. I didn't check the denise to see if they went small enough. damn. I wonder if I'll ever actually start another knitting project.

man, I really wanted to
man, I really wanted to sleep in today (note time).
But was aoken by the sounds of my cat throwing up,
repeatedly.
Poor little kitty must have eaten something cuz when I got out of bed there were little spots of kitty puke here and there in the apartment.
IT's nothing new for him to throw up, he's just one of those cats.
But it always worries me when he gets like this. I think I'll keep him off the food for the morning at least.
I have lots of homework to do and should really maybe knit something. (all work and no play...)
I need some tea.
