So, we have gone wireless.

So, we have gone wireless. We have a hub that shoots the internet to every corner of our little apartment. When Mr Gadgetgirl hooked it up he walked around the apartment laptop n hand going, 'hey honey look, I can surf the net in the kitchen too!'. It was just like that episode of Gilmore Girls where the parents went wireless. My life is a sitcom.

Check out this modern version of the bookmobile. What an awesome use of Public Domain! And pretty soon you will be able to adopt a book to help them keep going. watch this space....

I'm going the craft fair in Sydney today. Yea, most of it will be utterly forgettable, but hopefully there will be some good deals on yarn (it's the last day of the show so I'm ready to haggle). Helen pointed out that we can keep ourselves entertained by giggling at all the feather yarn. yikes.

note to the food editor

note to the food editor of the TV show I watched yesterday:
when you added fish roe to the recipe, it was instantly no longer a vegetarian recipe.

four things

1. Look Ma, we have those cleaning erasers now too! (click on the top left image) For everyone else, these things rock! They will clean anything.

2. Bees!

3. And I watched the classic film The Great Gatsby last night. (I'm doing a bit of research for a flapper costume, I'll post pics when it's finished) And man, Sam Waterson (aka Jack McCoy) looks like he is about 12! Go figure.

4. Guess what these are:
what the heck are they

Nope, they are limes. Rob got them from a friend who has some citrus trees on his property. I had no idea that many limes are yellow. I guess there will be lots of lime n Coke at our place.

things I've been paid for

things I've been paid for in the last three weeks:
1. making pig noises
2. shaking my sillies out
3. reading Shel Silverstein stories
4. finding out how many millimeters in a light year (for the record Google is friggin' amazing sometimes)
5. dog wrangling (we have automatic doors and a puppy came looking for its owner who was finding something to read in the library)

oh, and I picked up an old video of 'Good News Week' at the thrift store today. Most people will go, 'huh?' but for the few of you who get it, I'm so crushing on Paul McDermott again.

So I've been in this

So I've been in this gig for a full two weeks now. I think I'm doing ok. The computer system is starting to make sense to me, I'm putting together some story times for the kiddies for next week, and everyone is cool. Oh, and did I mention our CD collection? We not only have Moby, Spiderbait, and Outkast, but also Dead Kennedys and Smashing Pumpkins. Go figure.

I don't know if I mentioned this before but I have my own desk in the children's library office. I think this is the first time I've ever had my very own desk...and I'm making it a very Amy kinda desk, lots of bottles of glitter around, books about puppets, and other crafty stuff. (I'm gonna try to work in a crochet skull bwa-ha-ha)

So I've had one of those plastic cubes that you fill with photos just waiting for me to use, I thought this new desk would be the perfect opportunity. ANYWAY....I spent this morning filling it with all kinds of pics (yes Ryan, I have one of you and Scotty in there too). And I had to put this one of myself in there, kind of a 'full circle' thang:

littleamy

But check it out, there I am in my 4 year old cuteness, and there is my name (Allenspach is my maiden name) and FULL ADDRESS!!! (no, I don't live there anymore) Can you imagine how cheezed off a parent would be if you did that now?!!? What a different world we live in.
I just had to share.

Ok, I'm back

whew. what a difference a week makes. wow.
This time last week I had just finished up my last week at Polo and was out drinkin' at the Slip Inn to celebrate my last day. (yes, the bar where Mary and Prince Freddie met.)
Rob warned me to not be hung over on Saturday. over and over again. He had a birthday surprise for me and said that there might be a little physical input involved.
I was good, I had a few light beers and drank a few waters too.
I think I was even home before 1am.
wow

So Saturday I got up (NOT hung over!) and I opened some birthday prezzies, talked to my Mom, had some pancakes, and did a little celebrating. Then off to my birthday surprise.
Well, here ya go, that's me on the right.
catchme
pretty cool, eh?
So then we went out to dinner and drinks (and pool!) with Kris and the Snook. Some guy tried to crack onto Kris and I while we were playing some random driving game. WRONG! Don't mess with two competitive midwestern gals when they are in the heat of battle.....some guys will never learn.
but anyway.

Sunday was a blur.
Monday came too fast.

I'm really lovin' my new job.
I'm learning the computer system slowly. I've helped out with the story time a bit. I'm figuring out how to get to and from school, home, and work on the bus. Everyone is pretty cool (some are cooler than others) Its kinda weird not wearing jeans to work and I still have trouble remembering everyone's names.
But I think I'm fitting in OK.
I did help a woman today find some books. She was babysitting her grandson and wanted something to read to him. She seemed pretty happy with what I found for her.
I'm pretty tired when I get home. It's a lot of work learning all this new stuff. We have a long weekend coming up and boy, I'm gonna have a good sleep in.
But yes, I do love it.
