boy, it's been a while.
boy, it's been a while.
I've been under the weather this week. Some sort of lingering cold/sore throat/all over crappy feeling going on. So there has been lots of sleep for me lately.
But things at the library have been pretty awesome. I feel like I'm really getting into the swing. This week we had some visiting groups of older kids (8-12 year olds) and I introduced them to Mad Libs for the first time. Can you believe that the kids had never had them??? Crazy stuff. Well, the kids loved them. They all had big belly laughs and wanted to keep going and going. I must admit that it felt pretty to cool to be such a hit.
And while I'm walking down memory lane I checked out a video of Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings. The opening is a a lot shorter but the animation was just as I remember. But I didn't get toe hear the whole "well, you know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true..." song. hmmm, MP3 maybe.....

Things have been pretty crazy
Things have been pretty crazy around casa del gadgetgirl. We live in a two bedroom unit and this weekend we are swapping the bedroom and the den. See we have these new neighbours and they have at least 3 kids under 5. Now I like kids as much as the next person but these kids like to yell at midnight. SO wear moving our bedroom to the other side of the unit. And heck, it gives us a chance to give each room a good clean.
Oh, and this one is for Helen. It will give you a big giggle.
I picked up this really cool knitting book called New Knits, is has a lot of knitting outside the box kinda stuff. Just fyi.
I should get back to swapping the rooms....

Three things
1. So last night after seeing Fahrenheit 9/11 with Kris and the Snook we stopped into this insane used book store in Newtown (that's a whole 'nuther post!) but while we were hunting through the piles I came across a yearbook from a Normal High School. So here I am, a gal from Central Illinois, living in Sydney looking at a bunch of pics of high school kids from Central Illinois at a book shop in Sydney. ahhh, my brain hurts.
2. Further proof that Prime Minister Helen Clark is a really man. That woman has cojones the size of basketballs! Lordy, she told Israel to take a hike. (just for the record, I like Helen Clark a lot.)
3. File this site under 'duh': johnhowardlies.com

Freedom to or Freedom from?
I can't believe that people aren't up in arms over this . Or do most people just not know that the Feds can request information about what books you check out from your local library. Pesky Freedom of The Press. They probably wish they could just pull out all 'questionable' material. What's next? Is Bush gonna cancel the election for the sake of national security? Lordy.

So we saw TISM last night. all I can say is WOW!!! If you are in Australia and have not seen them pull your finger out and buy a ticket. If you don't know who I am talking about TISM are this nuts band from Melbourne that are kind of a mix of Devo and Revolting Cocks. And live, wow, they are unreal.
Oh, and we are going to be at Kris' place tonight, if ya watch real close you might just catch us on couch cam!

Oh, and I'm working on getting us more Shel Silverstein. Can you believe that we didn't have one copy of The Giving Tree? That should be against the law. Next one should be A Light In The Attic.

The Sunday program web poll:
The Sunday program web poll:
Do you think George Bush and Dick Cheney deserve to be re-elected.
I like how they worded the question, 'deserve to be re-elected'. ha.
go forth and vote. (ok, it is only a web poll, but what the heck)
And on the same note, The Dendy has put up the times for the first showings of Fahreneit 9/11 in Sydney. Who's in? Should we start making t-shirts? I'm planning on booking tickets to the Friday 9:15 showing at Newtown sometime today if anyone else is intrested.

The new Knitty is finally
The new Knitty is finally up. I must say it was worth the wait. It is the 'Sex and the Knitty' issue (yes, I know, we are all over the SATC puns). It is definitely 18+, don't say I didn't warn ya! (note to Kris: ya think Peter might find some of those lacy lingerie patterns 'challenging'? Oh wait, they aren't boy patterns....)
We finally set a date for our citizenship. Come August 18th we will be Australian citizens. How cool is that? (for the record, yes, we do get to keep our American citizenship) And see, even Barbie loves Australians! (Ken who?) But I don't think I've ever met an Aussie guy named 'Blaine". Maybe he shoulda been named 'Mick' or 'Johnno'. And I just looked at the date, it was 7 years ago today that mr gadgetigrl and I stepped onto a plane and headed down under. wow, time goes by so fast.
BTW, next week I go to my first storytme in the Zoo. Should be good fun! I'll take my camera.
