Dude, it was hot today.

Dude, it was hot today.

Not as hot as it was meant to be, but it was still way too hot, I went to the movies (Garden State, good flick) with my girlfriend who is 8+ months preggers to escape the heat. When I got into her car the outside temp was like 38C. Yikes. That's almost 100F.

So Rob leaves for for

So Rob leaves for for India/Singapore tomorrow and we were checking out some of the places he will be staying. This is one place he will be staying at in India. Rob noticed something that they offer something a bit, well, odd to their guests (read the list under 'attached bathroom').

Man, it's been a weird

Man, it's been a weird ole week.

I've been studying like a crazy person. I have two finals and a project due this week. I'll be really glad when this semester is over. Next semester I have aqusitions which sounds like lots of fun. And Rob is leaving for India and Singapore on Wednesday. So we have been making sure he has everything he needs; Clean shirts, new toothbrush, and malaria pills. (yes malaria!) He'll be gone for a week, so it is me and the kitty holding down the fort at Casa del Barker.

THEN........
I heard there was a big snowstorm that hit the Midwest (where a lot of my family lives). So I went to the local paper to get the scoop. Well I got a huge shock.
I found out that a girlfriend of mine from High School passed away.
I am completely floored by this. She was my first real girlfriend. I had a lot of guy friends up to that point but I never really got along well with girls, I found most teenage girls to be annoying and petty. Well then Tia and I started hanging out. She was cool, liberated and didn't give a crap what other people thought of her. She drove a blue Fiat, smoked Benson & Hedges, and laughed with whole being. We learned a lot while we were friends. We broke some hearts (and had ours stomped on...), learned how much not to drink, saw quite a few bands and quickly outgrew the town we lived in.
Tia moved to St Louis, I to Chicago.
She married, had a baby, I moved to Australia and got married.
We lost touch somewhere in there.

But sometimes, some people make an impression on your soul that never goes away no matter how long it has been. Tia, you will be missed. I hope you are at peace wherever you are

It was a beaufiful ceremony. Elvis walked them down the aisle. They promised to love each other and be each other's 'best friend'. Very sweet.
Kris, as promised, wore her white Chucks. Rock on! And I'm sure Elvis was jealous of Rodd's amazing sideburns. Well done you two.

I'm sorry.
I have lost that last little ounce of respect that I had for U2 when I saw them flogging iPods on Tv tonight.

But on a lighter note. How cool is this site? One of the guys at work showed it to me. You can turn an normal sized image into a huge wall sized one. very cool stuff man.

bad, bad, bad, GOOD!

As you all know today started out pretty crappy.

So then we had an small electrical fire in the goods lift (a freight elevator to the Yank) at work. We had to evacuate the building and stand around outside. Well, everyone got to go home early except me because today was the day that Graeme Base was coming for a book signing and we couldn't have it in the Library cuz of the smoke but we didn't want to cancel the cool as hell author visit, ya know? Well, the library manager rang around council and got us a space at the art gallery to have our event.

Well then while I was killing the 3 hours till the book signing I went to the shops to pick up some coffee for the hubby I got frickin' swooped by a magpie! can you belive it? It went for my right ear. I'm Ok, a little freaked out, but Ok. (yes, we have these nutty Hitchcock-like birds in Sydney, go fig')

But then I got to meet Graeme Base. It made it all worth while, he was so cool. So friggin' cool. Like I've said before, go out and get yourself a copy of Animalia right now. Right this very minute. Really. No kidding.
