Sorry I've been so absent
Sorry I've been so absent lately.
My Mom is here from the US for a couple of weeks so we are hangin' out in Sydney. It's kinda cool when someone comes to visit you where you live. It allows you to visit all those touristy places you never go to. Ya know?
Yesterday we went to Fair Day. (in between the storms, man it never rains in Sydney but the last two days have we have had crazy storms!) Today we are off the city to do a spot of shopping, she wants to see the QVB and I still haven't been to the new and improved Tapestry Craft (very slack of me, I know.) Any maybe just maybe, we will get our new sofa this week.....I should really call Freedom this morning.....

Be sure to pop over
Be sure to pop over to Kris' blog and see her 'sexy geography teacher cardigan'. It is the coolest/dorkiest thing I have ever seen in my entire life! Truly.
SOFA UPDATE: They are meant to be delivering the sofa this week! Whoo-hoo! I'll be sure to post pics.

I KNEW IT
So tonight I saw on the news that Prince Charles is going to marry his 'long time companion' Camilla Parker Bowles, and we all know that 'long time companion' is code word for, ya know.
So I guess I was right. Ms. Bowles is really a GUY!

OK, I'm in need of
OK, I'm in need of a little rant right now, and since this is my blog, I'm gonna go for it.
Bloodly school. They have canceled 2 of the three classes I am meant to take this semester. The head of the department quit without warning on Monday (the first day of the semester). so I kinda understand why everything is in a state of flux, but man, I just want to take more than ONE bloody class, ya know? So instead of going to class tonight I spent an hour and a half trying to get this shit sorted out.(after a full 8 hours a t work, mind you) Man, I paying them all this money and all........Mr GG and I have been having the worst karma lately. Between our sofa crap, his camera crap, and now this crap with school....aaahhhh!!!....I swear we have pissed someone off. And have I mentioned that no one (and I mean NO ONE) in the North Shore area sells box fans. We just want a stinkin' fan to put in the window.
OK, I feel better. I'll do a normal post tomorrow. I'm gonna go have a beer and watch ER (and Extreme Makeover)

So you are bored with
So you are bored with your current vocation and looking for something new to make a quid. You think, "hey I"d make a pretty kick ass burlesque performer". But your dreams of pasties and fisnets could be dashed if you don't come up with just the right name. Don't dispair grasshopper, Empty-Handed has come to your rescue with one and only Burlesque Name Generator. Be sure to give the little people some props when you do make is as Madam Ambrosia Galore.

OK, so we sorted out
OK, so we sorted out the sofa situation. We have gone from Paprika to Aubergine (aka rusty red to dark purple) coloured fabric. Fingers crossed we will have it within the next week or so. And as it turns out, some of the accessories in our place actually go with new colour a little better. I just didn't want a sofa that was in such a trendy fabric. I'm just worried that in 3 years it will look very dated. Ya know? I guess we could just have it recovered at that point.....I know, I worry too much.
Mr and Mrs Web-Goddess have set a date for their reception, and I'm on the decorating committee. So we are off to Spotlight and IKEA on Friday to craft some clever Vegas themed centerpieces. And while we are on the subject of craftiness, I was at Lincraft today and they are having a hell of a sale. ALL of their fabric is 1/2 price. Can you believe it? I made some awesome curtains for like $15 today. If you can find something you like in there, you'll get a hell of a deal.
And I'm back to school tomorrow. I'm at the 1/2 way mark in my course (but the last semster is mostly work-study) and I'm trying to decided if I want to go onto the university course after this one is over. I can do it by distance study and it shouldn't by too taxing. But I am excited about this semester. I have a database class, aquisitions, and serials. Should be interesting.
From Hell is on tonight. Johnny Depp all scruffy and off his dial on absinth. Yummy.

Guess what I'm doing tomorrow
Guess what I'm doing tomorrow morning....
I'm going to Freedom Furniture to pick a new fabric for my sofa that I ordered 4 weeks ago. Apparently the the entire country is out of the fabric I like in 'paprika'. Go figure. I wonder if I'm going to have to wait another 4 weeks for them to make this sofa. Figures. My Mom is coming for a visit in a few weeks and I wanted to have this all sorted before she came down. ('sorted' meaning having the sofa delivered and having the cat used to new intrusion in his life) And on top of that, I've already bought cushion covers to match to new sofa (from Freedom). I wonder if they will match...but don't place any bets....oh well.

do they think?
So at the library we have a toy cupboard. Nothing too snazzy. Some puzzles, wooden blocks and some of those wooden bead frame thingos. Anyway, I am trying to decided which is sadder, that I had to put a sign on the cupboard that reminds parents to put the toys away when they are finished or the fact they they regulary ignore the sign and leave the toys scattered all around the library. truly sad.
And I just had to add this to my rant on freaky kids names. When I met a child named 'Chynna' (pronounced 'China') today I thought that would be at the top of my weekly list of messed up names. But oh no, I work in a neighbourhood where 'more money than sense' is the mantra. This afternoon I actually met a child named Rocco Rizzo. No lie. I mean really, was the mom watching Grease when she was in labour or something? Really?

I am sitting here watching
I am sitting here watching Outfoxed. Now I know that this film has a slanted view, but I am SO glad that I moved out of the US before Fox News (and I use the term 'news' very loosely) really got off the ground. Man, those people are NUTS! Do people really watch this shit and believe it? And what is up with that O'Rielly guy? He is down right insane. He reminds me of Morton Downy Jr (and don't even get me started on Geraldo...hey dude I have a safe in my basement for ya!). But what scares me is that people buy this crap and don't think that they are being fed propaganda. It's all opinion instead of fact, and that is NOT news. Lordy
I think I need a shower.
