melbourne question
there is a slight chance (very slight) that I could be off to Melbourne this weekend. (fri, sat, sun).
Any thoughts about things I should check out? (besides Genki!). I've been to Melbourne once before so I've seen some of the bigger touristy things, I don't feel the need to hike over to Luna Park.
Oh, and is anyone going to BDO in Sydney or Melbourne?

Well, I'm not going to the BDO, but I am in Melbourne. :)
Also, there's this exhibition at the National Gallery -- http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/britishartandthe60s/ -- I haven't seen it yet, but want to. The Ian Potter Art Centre at Federation Square is always good for a visit too.
Brunswick St is a good place to be -- excellent shops and food.
CERES Environmental Park seems like it would be cool (embarrassingly, I've never been there) -- http://www.ceres.org.au/
That's a start. :)

Check out the NGV and the ACMI(which featured my website for a while!).
My friend sent me this link, in order to lure me down there: http://www.shoppingsecrets.com/melbourne/categories.shtml
But the link seems to be not working. Urgh. Check out the record stores and knitting shops. Sorry I can't be more specific.

If you're staying in town, breakfast (toasted turkish with ricotta and honey?) and coffee in Degraves Street. Great place to sit outside and do Saturday's cryptic in the Age.
