anyone?

The Boy From Oz is coming to Sydney...anyone interested?
The cheap seats are $99.

I saw the Todd McKinney version way back when and I must admit I'm going into this with a little chip on my shoulder because I really loved Todd's preformance (I stood and cheered at the end). But I'm going to be open minded, I promise.
All the reviewers love Hugh so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

more kitty stuff

For a really good giggle go see Snarky's kitty. No, really...her cat is too funny...and to answer her question YES, she should send it in to Funniest Videos.

(ok, ok, ok, when you watch the video be sure to turn the sound up. There is an audible 'thud' when his head hits the desk...and a good giggle at the end)

sorry about all the caps...

If I ever get a chance to meet the Premier I will give him a piece of my mind about this friggin' Premier's Reading Challenge.

On the surface it seems like a good idea. Give kids a reading list to pick from, they read a bunch of books and get a certificate.
Sounds awesome, right?
Well, when EVERY Mum comes into the library with the SAME LIST and they all want to pop in to just pick up 5 or 6 books off that list for little Johnny, and they are in a hurry because they are on the way to their yoga class.
And this happens 10 times a day....
Well, you see my problem.

Add to that the fact that we don't actually hold about, maybe, third of the list...plus and there are four book lists that are over 10 pages EACH. That's 40 pages of books. 40 pages!

And do you think we get any extra money or support from the government to get any of this mess sorted out?!?!?!

BaaaahhhhhH!!!!

three things

1. Sistine Chapel in cross stitch. It took her 10 years to complete. What do you do when you finish a 10 year project? Write a book of course!

2. Make a pinhole camera made from an Altoids tin...Just for future reference.

3. Whip Up. How is it that I JUST found this site?!?!

Oh and we saw Capote today. Still digesting it....

the good, the bad and the hairy

Right now Rob is on a plane on the way to Singapore. (he'll be back on Friday..dont worry)
We aren't really into the Valentines Day thing, but this morning my wonderful hubby surprised me with this wonderful antique locket. Aint it purdy?

This way I can have pictures of my two favourite boys right next to me all the time....awww.....

And now for something completely different.....

When I got home this afternoon I decided to do a load of laundry (I dropped some lunch on my pants and needed to sort out the situation ASAP) and there was a little bit of left over laundry in dryer to fold...
I opened up the dryer door and this scurried out.

My hubby isn't gone for, what, 3 hours and I already have to deal with a big hairy spider? WTF?
So, after a few expletives I did the old ice-cream-tub-and-paper-trick and got the bugger outside.
whew...crisis averted.

Oh, and while we are on the topic of expletives we went and saw The Aristocrats this weekend.

Now, this film is NOT for everyone. Actually, it's probably not for most people. But I thought it was hilarious and a very insightful look at comedy. What does it take to make a comedian laugh and how is a really good joke constructed
If you can get past the language...and the subject matter...it is well worth checking out if for nothing else than the footage of the Billy the Mime doing the joke, too funny. Oh, oh, and Carrie Fisher had a few great lines too!
Three and a half stars.

there are like two people who will get this post...

My poor cat.
He has a name but I insist on giving him nick names.
Lately it had been 'Kitty Boo' (Or 'Mr Boo'. Or just 'Boo' when I'm particularly lazy)
I blame it on the Animaniacs. There was a character on the show called 'Chicken Boo'. The Wikipedia entry I linked to is really worth reading, even if you do know they cartoon...

but until then, here was Chicken Boo's theme:

Chicken Boo, what's the matter with you?
You don't act like the other chickens do.
You wear a disguise to look like human guys.
But you're not a man, you're a chicken, Boo.

The next couple of weeks are going to be crazy. Work is nuts. My classes are going to be really full on. I have some extra training this week too. I think the Knitting Olympics is just going to be too much for me.
But I guess that's the nature of the Olympics, some make it, others don't.

*humph*

Tacky? Yes
Offensive? Uh, no.
Duh
I can't belive this woman had to cover up her tat while on a Jetstar flight. Especially while someone else on the same flight had a t-shirt with a swear word on it.
Good gravy, what is this world coming to?

February 04, 2006

really.

I didn't want to like Walk The Line. I wanted to hate Joaquin and Reese.
Really I did.
But good god. He wasn't acting, he was channeling The Man in Black.
Wow.
She was pretty good, but he was just amazing. I was actually starteled at a few points by just how much he looked like Johnny Cash.
Amazing stuff.

thinking globally.

Has anyone tried this swapstyle thing?
I heard about it on JJJ when I was driving home today and conceptually it sounds like a pretty good thing. But I've been looking at it and it mostly seems to be 17 year old waifs with suburban taste.
But maybe if it gets some more traffic there could be some really good stuff on offer.
I really like the idea of swapping my unwanted clothes (and other stuff) with someone who would really like it. I'd rather recycle it, ya know?
Now if they would just swap yarn....that would be tops

jeez

stupid.
f*&%ing.
TAFE.

They have screwed up my class schedule yet again.
You would think that I would be used to it by now.
I mean really, class starts on Monday and I just today found out when my classes are.
And they are not when I can take them.
*sigh*
The only thing that I know as I sit here right now is that I have one class on Monday night.
I guess we will find out next week.

Has ANYONE had a good experience with TAFE?
