Confessions of a Star Wars geek
I think I only have one or two of the figures off of this list.
But it is interesting to note that it is like 6 weeks until the release of the new Star Wars DVD.

Sydney Knit In 2006

Another year, another Knit In.
The ABC studios at Ultimo were taken over by knitters this Friday morning. (first the ABC, then the world!) Knitters and crocheters came together to create squares for an amazing Aussie organization called Wrap With Love. The wraps are then distributed to people throughout the world to people who need a little warmth.
So in case you didn't make it down this year, here are a few happy snaps from the morning. (oh, and did I mention we got to meet a few Aussie celebs? Yeah, well, we did!)

three things (the photo edition!)
Looks who's got a new toy!
Yeah, I thought I should try my hand at shooting film. Rob says that this little camera comes well regarded. So there is a roll of black and white in that bad boy and I'm itchin' to get shooting.
But ya know what's funny? the film cost more than the camera..lol
Here's one way to get kids to smile at the camera ;)
I've found a local place that sells the ever-so-cool GorillaPod Tripod. I've been jonesing for one of these ever since I saw Phineas' when we were in Chicago.

Happy National Lamingtion Day!
Go forth and get yourself some chocolately/coconut goodness. And just in case you are not in Australia and want to get in on the fun, here is a recipe for ya! (I can just hear my hubby groaning, he hates lamingtons more than you know!)
Pop quiz! What is a 'Kitler'?
Don't know? Well here is the answer for ya. (thanks for the link mom!)

in case you missed it.
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."
"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"
His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.
Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

a very dark place
I'd like to say thank you to my brother for intruducing me to Garth Marenghi's Dark Place. (he describes it brilliantly here)
It is truly one of the funniest shows ever created.
If you live in the US and have cable you can experience it for yourself on the SciFi channel starting on the 27th. But even if you don't have cable, you can see the first episode for free.
oh god, you have no idea....really....

the magic of flickr.
Guess who's got a photo in a magazine like the big kids?
Can you tell I'm a little excited?!?!?
If you want to pick up your own copy...it's $20. For those playing at home, I'm on page 51.
And all because I submitted a photo to their pool on Flickr. Too cool.
But in an ironic twist, the link to my blog is wrong...and this is the 'OOPS' issue....(update: the link's fixed, huzzah!)

So, what did you get up to this weekend?
Oh, me?
-On friday night we got home from work and found out that there was a Burlesque show on (thanks Ben!), said 'hey what the hell?' It was awesome! Highly recomended.
-Then I had to get up and work Sautrday morning, ug. The front door of the library is broken at the moment so it was open ALL DAY. That would have been ok by me but it was cold and rainy.
-Went to the first ever FlickrBowl and won the best dressed award! It was all about the hair. Check me out with my Farrah flick in this photo.
We leanred one this this weekend. The best wasy to go out like a party animal is to NOT drink to excess. We were able to get up both mornings and funtion propery. Lesson learned.

dancing water
A close up of a dancer from the Joffery Ballet preforming a gumboot dance in the water in the Crown Fountain at Millennium Park
Chicago.
It was like 95 that day and these guys were dancing in rubber overalls. Now THAT'S dedication to your art.

switching sides.
Now that we are settled back in and it's cold as a witch's...well you know....I've decided that it is time for me to finally learn how to knit using the Continental Method.
See, I've always used the English Method which is much slower.
So with a little assistance from KnittingHelp.com and an easy pattern from Jess Hutch (the robot)I'm giving it a go.
I feel like a brand new knitter again. It is very frustrating, but I know it will be worth it in the long run.
Wish me luck....

(oh, and I don't care what Kris says, Pirates was a really fun flick and well worth my time and money. It was exactly what I wanted. Lots of swashbuckling, impossible stunts, scary monsters and double crossess left right and centre. And come on, how HOT is Orlando Bloom?)

we're back....
SO yes, we are back.
There must be something in bloom at the moment because I have been sneezing up a storm for the last day or so.
I've added a few more photos from Seattle to my photo stream (more Chicago shots to come, don't worry).
The cat is sleeping on my new Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.
Tomorrow it's back to work. Three weeks goes by WAY too quickly.
