Sydney Knit In 2006

Sydney Knit In 2006
Another year, another Knit In.

The ABC studios at Ultimo were taken over by knitters this Friday morning. (first the ABC, then the world!) Knitters and crocheters came together to create squares for an amazing Aussie organization called Wrap With Love. The wraps are then distributed to people throughout the world to people who need a little warmth.

So in case you didn't make it down this year, here are a few happy snaps from the morning. (oh, and did I mention we got to meet a few Aussie celebs? Yeah, well, we did!)

Don't tell anyone, but my mum taught me how to knit when I was a young'un. Well, only simple stitches. The only thing I ever knitted was this one patch. It was beige, and it was ugly, but it was my patch. I was very proud of that patch, but I realised it was a very useless piece of thing, so I soon moved onto sketching and basketball.

This knit in really is a great idea though. The world can never have too many compassionate projects like this. One patch may be useless, but many patches will make blankets. I like that.

It is a really amazing project to be a part of. You really get that feeling that you are involved with something really big.

And if you ever feel like picking up the needles again, just say the word ;)
