Is it better to potentially over-dress or under-dress at a company Christmas party?
What is they party is a cruise on the harbour?

Under-dress. Because it's a cruise, and once it starts you can't get off. So you might have to swim if it really sucks.

wear something convertible, simple black dress with a jacket or shawl that's a bit fancier, maybe a pretty pin. you can ditch the top layer in the car if it looks too fancy. imho definitely have your suit underneath.
