fat boy

We had to take the cat to the vet this morning (no biggie, just for shots) and they weighed him while we were there.
He's now over 6 kilos! (thats over 13 pounds for the Yanks)

We better be careful when we pick him up, we don't want to do out backs in...must remember lift with the legs...not with the back...

Rant De Jour UPDATED

As I read about Americans complaining about high gas prices I wanted to know how the prices compare to what I pay were in Oz.

Well, I did the math (ok Mom, pick up your chin)
If you convert a litre of petrol in Australian dollars today into a gallon of gas in US dollars it comes out to $3.72 while reports are that Americans are paying an average of $3.10 a gallon.
I guess it's relative, prices are higher in the US than they have ever been, but until they reach what the rest of us are paying (and by all accounts they just might) I don't want to hear about it.

It makes me want to get rid of my car....and take the bus more.

UPDATE!
Petrol prices have spiked in Sydney...it is now an average of $4.38 USD a gallon. I think I'm going to buy a bike...

So...Kris' post got me thinin' (ok, yeah , I posted it in her blog as well)

What happens when you sweat in space?

Because there is no gravity it shouldn't stick to your skin and drip down...right?

But will is just spew out ala Play-Doh in a fuzzy pumper barber shop?

hmmm....sometimes I think too much....

Illinois bans smoking.

Wow, I never thought I'd see they day when Illinois would take the step. Califonia yes, they have lots of feel good hippies and all. But Illinois is a work-a-day, blue collar, home cookin' kinda state.
Not that I'm complaining. I love the idea of being able to go to a bar and now come home smelling of an ashtray. And it will make it easier for people who do want to quit because they will have less tempation.

I'm just saying that I never thought I'd see the day.

Oh, but wait. They did ban foie gras in chicago . Maybe my home state is turing into a kinder, gentler place.

Help needed

Here's a question for ya:

At what time of night do I go bang on my downstairs neighbour's door and ask him to quit doing his acoustic renditions of Robbie Williams songs? (keep in mind he's not a very good singer and he seems to be 'practicing', which basically means he keeps playing the same song over and over and over. Good god, it's like being at an Idol rehearsal!)

What time do people have to knock off band practice on a school night? 10? 9? 11? 1?
