livin' in the 80's (ya gotta love Killing Joke)
So I have this 80's retro party to go to soon. (it's hard to think of my high school days as being 'retro' ...eek...am I that old?)
Anyway, in my research(I have to get it era perfect, ya know?) I found this rockin' site. Prototype Vintage has lots of awesome 'new wave' plastic jewelry. And you know what, I had these exact shoes in like 1987. Man, I loved those shoes...
It's like a little stroll down memory lane...
But this whole thing is kind of freakin' me out. Ya see, the 80's 'look' is so back in at the moment. Go have a look at eBay. Things like acid washed denim mini shirts, slouch boots and wayfarers go for big bucks. But the thing that got me today was when I was on my way to work I saw a hip young thing wearing stirrup pants. Stirrup pants! What is this world coming to?
Now I just need to find/make the perfect new wave necklace to go with my outfit for this party. I'm thinkin' an early new wave ala Human League, The Cars or even Blondie. And don't worry, I'll be sure to take some pics (should I compare my get up to what I actually wore in my 80's goth/industrial days? It might be an interesting comparison)
But it is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

:)
I think I was going for a sexy goth look but looking back they just look like shoes that Robin would have worn if he was a drag queen. But in a good way.
