what we learned today
Well, the house we had been wishing and hoping for finally sold.
To someone else.
It sucks, but I'm trying to be positive about the whole experience. We learned a lot about what we do (hard wood floors, Pettit and Sevitt style, gas, bush setting) and don't want (carpet, lots of grass to mow, leaking roof) in a house.
And we learned that we are willing to do some work on a place, but not huge amounts.
And we learned that we need to stick to our budget. There was an interest rate hike this week in Australia and that can add something like $100 a month to a loan.
So we are really, really, really back to the drawing board this time.
Wish us luck....

Keep searching, little camper! Your dream home is out there somewhere!
(maybe you just have to wait until the current owner goes to prison -- that worked for us.)
