Sweet Home
My Chicago screen print arrived this week. Yay! We bought the orange one. I'm pretty sure it's going up in the kitchen. I just love it.
Chicago means a lot to Rob and me. We met there. We spent a lot of time there. We fell in love there. It's a great town.
And coming from Peoria, Chicago was everything. Forget New York, if you could make it in Chicago, you could make it anywhere. It's not an easy city. If you don't pull your own weight, it will eat you up. But it is a varied city. The public art, the L, the Lake, the pizza, the summer neighbourhood festivals, Lincoln towing, St Patrick's Day, Oprah, State Street, The Holiday Club...good and bad...they are all make up one amazing city.
Some days I really miss it. Truly. and every time I look at that print I'll smile for sure.
But I do NOT the snot freezingly cold winters

You light up my life
I love love love this Lili Lite.
I like to read in bed, the hubby doesn't. Plus, my books are always piling up on my bedside table. This is such a elegant solution.
How long do you think it will be before IKEA does a knock off?

Isn't it funny when things come together?
I've been pretty unhappy with my black eyeliner as of late (by lunch time it looks like I have no liner at all, bah!) And it looks like Not Martha was having the same problem! Lucky for me she has a big following with lots of good make-up advice. Seems like Urban Decay, NARS, and MAC all have some devoted fans.
But I'm definitely going to try the eyeshadow as eyeliner trick until I can make it to the make up counter (of those 3 I'm partial to MAC...I like their Viva Glam lippy)

We finally went for a walk down the fire trail near our place. It's a really nice hike. Lots of big gum trees, lizards and beautiful birds.
I love how this one twists and turns.

ooh, so scratchy...
I really hope want this kitty scratching post to come to IKEA Australia. See, we made an effort to pull all of the carpeted mess out of our place when we moved in, so I really don't like having the one we have in our living room (ok, Sparky likes it, so I live with it)
But that one at IKEA looks pretty groovie.

Gathering
It's been a long time in the coming, but Rob has finally posted some photos from Mom's wake last June.
There was lots of family, wonderful friends, way too many beers and ever a cake from Trefzgers. (If you are from Peoria, you are drooling by now)
I'd like to think Mom would have approved.
