When I'm in a bit of a funk and need a giggle I can always rely on the Go Fug Yourself gals to give me a lift.

I love food blogs. I really do.
I subscribe to quite a few.
But I've had to stop following a few American sites because 3/4 of the recipes include some short cut pre-made 'ingredient'. It is really quite frustrating. And there is a part of me that just wants to reach through the intertubes, shake the authors and say 'Hey, lazy blogger, it's not that hard to chop up a few chilies, trust me'.
So just for the food bloggers, the list below includes ingredients that are not necessarily available outside of the US:
1. Cool Whip (but I can make whipped cream)
2. Cheddar Cheese Soup in a can (and even our cream of mushroom soup is different, not by much, but it is different)
3. Graham Crackers
5. Nilla Wafers
6. Canned biscuits and frozen dinner roll
7. anything Jello related (including Jello pudding)
8. Most of the cake mixes that are not straight chocolate or vanilla. Nope, no devil's food, angel food, lemon, etc
9. Corn bread mix
10. Monterrey jack cheese (yes we get cheese, just not MoJack)
12. Crisco or any vegetable shortening for that matter. We have this thing called Copha, but it's just not the same
And yes, I know I can order stuff from USA Foods in Melbourne, but to be honest I'd much rather make it from scratch.

A modest proposal
Open letter to parents,
If you think that it's a good idea to give little Timmy a harmonica to keep him occupied at the grocery store....think again.
All you are doing is pissing off all of the upper north shore, and quite possibly all of Sydney

If I just HAD to move back to Chicago and HAD an extra $2.3M I would so buy Cameron's house. I think it might just be the house that got me interested in modern architecture.
But really, go have a look. Its even more amazing than I remember. But I would have to add a very special piece of art in the yard

Tea Wallet. Yeah, why didn't I think of that one? I'm always having a few tea bags rolling around the bottom of my bag. This would solve my problem. For sure! (I'm not a big fan of the fabric in the tutorial, but that's just my taste)

So we fond out today there is a thing called the MINI Challenge Australia. Basically they race MINIs on tracks all around Oz. They look so cool zipping around the track. (today's race was on a street course in Townsville) And get this, for morning weather guy and motor enthusiast Grant Denyer is one of the drivers (Sydneysiders might remember the accident Denyer suffered, its good to see him driving again)
There was a pretty nasty crash today. One of the cars went full force into the barrier, smashing in the entire front of the car. The driver walked away without a scratch. I know they add some safety stuff into the race cars, but I must admit it did make me feel a lot better about my ride.
Anyway, it looks like a cool series, I'm looking forward to watching more.

At least I wasn't the only one who noticed that the jjj hottest 100 of all time was a little short of the female set.
Frankie magazine posted and article stating that only 10 of the top 100 were sung by women. (yes, only 10!!!) While Frankie mag gives a big 'thumbs down' to jjj for forgetting women, I don't really think its their fault. They just ran the poll. It was the jjj listenership who voted on the songs, and they DIDN'T vote for the ladies.
Frankie posted their own top 50 list, it's ok, but it is slated to Aussie singers and is a little too 'kool for skool' for me. I would add in there Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Carol King, Dionne Warwick, Ella Fitzgerald, Missy Elliot, Ani Difranco, Maria Callas, Courtney Love and maybe, um, KYLIE!?!?!? (maybe Joan as Policewoman is way cooler than Kylie...)
Anyway, we all know that 100 years from now no one will know the name Karen O.

Raw Umber Anyone?
Make lipstick from crayons. I'm not so sure about this one...seems a little dodgy to me. But with all the colours on offer from Crayola, it is intriguing. I might just stick with MAC for now. (link from Mere)
