Random thoughts on cooking and films

Up

I spent most of my day doing Uni work but did take a few minutes out to make some yummy cookies (aka bikkies). I used this Cranberry Cornmeal recipe but used gluten free flour (cuz that's all I had) and they came out pretty yummy. Kind of like a sweet fruity shortbread. And now tonight we, like most of Australia, will be settling in to watch the finale of MasterChef.

But to change tack, the Melbourne International Film Festival is on at the moment but one film you wont be seeing is L.A.ZOMBIE because it has been refused classification by the Office of Film and Literature Classification’s Film Classification Board.(even though the erect penises and anal sex have been taken out of this version). While this gay-zombie-softcore film doesn't really sound like some masterpiece I like zombie flicks as much as the next person...but it looks like I'll have to wait a while to make my own decision. Another film you won't be able to see is MAKING IT HANDMADE!, but not for the same reasons (this one does not have any necrophilia. Man, I'm glad my spell checker knows how to spell 'necrophilia') You can't see MAKING IT HANDMADE! because it is totally sold out. Filmmaker Anna Brownfield says, “I wanted to show that craft was no longer daggy but had moved into a new era and was being reclaimed by women who had been brought up as feminists.” Sounds like heaps of fun, hopefully it will screen in Sydney. They are also showing Shaun Tan's THE LOST THING at the MIFF, but guess who saw it a month ago at a library conference....ok, no awards if ya get it...I'll just say that if you get a chance, go and see it :)
