let there be light
Things are moving right along at Casa del Barker. Friday the induction cooktop and new oven went in. (whoo-hoo) And we had the electrician take out the cheap IKEA lighting that was criss crossing our entryway and dining room. It's really amazing how much bigger the space looks without it.
Now we just have bare bulbs stuck in the ceiling (but ya know what, I'd rather have that than what we had before!)
But now the search for the perfect pendant lights begins. I've always liked the Tord Boontje garland light, but after I read a review, I don't think it will work for our space (it looks like I'd need at least two for it to be effective in our dining room)
The I saw the Icarus light by the same designer. It's pretty big and impressive and just might do the trick for our entryway.
And I guess if we do something that over the top in the entry, we should do something a little more subdued above the dining table. The Zoom light is amazing as well...but I don't know that we can get it in Australia, plus I'm sure its out of my budget....still...nice to think about :)

stool-a-rama
I really like the Eames stools (man, if I'm not careful I could end up with an all Eames house!)...but then again...any of these might just do the trick...how sexy are they? Don't you just want to touch 'em?
Anyone know a good outlet for cool stools in Sydney? Or anyone have any thoughts on how to make cool chunky stools?

thoughts
So I want to paint our kitchen floors white. They are currently wood floors stained quite dark and slealed with some sort of polyurethane. It is a very dark room, and I'm hoping to lighten it up. Here's some inspiration.
Anyone ever tried it? How much do I need to sand it? What paint would work the best? How long would it take to dry? Thought? Comments?
